The few cops that remain must pool their courage and strength to help bring back law and order to the city they love.
The force includes Marlin Boulet (Anthony Anderson), a brash veteran of the Felony Action Squad who specializes in tracking down the most-wanted. His partner left after the storm, but Boulet stayed in the city and two years later is still won't hesistate to bend the rules in order to catch a criminal. Boulet's new partner, Trevor Cobb (Cole Hauser) is a veteran soldier who fought in Afghanistan prior to joining the NOPD. He's committed to his job, but has trouble adjusting to Boulet's method of doing things, mainly due to a dark secret Cobb is keeping.
Also on the force are hot-headed Billy "K9" Faust (Maximiliano Hernandez), who rarely thinks before he speaks; Jeff "Glue Boy" Gooden (Blake Shields), the resident comedian; Ginger "Love Tap" LeBeau, the force's only female who is just as tough as any of the males; and Captain James Embry (John Carroll Lynch), whose personality blends humor and tenacity in order to keep his small crew together.
In one of the most intriguing series, K-Ville takes viewers inside the aftermath of Katrina, from the mangled Victorian mansions in the Garden District to the rubble that remains in the hard-hit Lower 9th Ward. In the harsh reality that Katrina left behind, the NOPD must deal with what comes their way as the future of the city they love hangs in the balance.

In 1642, John (Nikolaj Coster Waldau) was a Dutch soldier in the New Amsterdam colony, which would later become New York City. There, John put himself in front of a sword intended for a Native girl during a massacre. In return for saving her life, the girl saved John and conducted an ancient spell in which immortality was given to him. The only way that John will age is if he finds his true love.
But to John, finding his true love would be bittersweet. During the past 300 years, he's experienced year after year of endless adventures, perfecting his many talents. However, everyone John meets eventually leaves him, all passing while he remains young. Friend and jazz club owner Omar (Stephen Henderson) is the sole keeper of John's secret, and also keeps a fair share of his own.
As the thrill of eternal life has slowly turned into emotional isolation and loneliness, John begins to think his eternal life is a blessing and a curse all in one. Alongside his partner, Eva Marquez (Zuleikha Robinson), they solve complex murder cases, slowly ridding the streets of dangerous criminals. However, when Amsterdam suffers from a massive heart attack, he's pronounced dead in the ER by Dr. Sara Dillane (Alexie Gilmore), but later recovers. Amsterdam realizes that the Native girl's prophesy may be coming true since he felt the pain in his heart that she foretold many years ago.
